Music is a wonderful gift from the Lord. It is a valuable tool with which we worship the Lord, meditate on His truth, and provide spiritual encouragement to fellow believers. Though we do enjoy special music presentations from individuals or ensembles, the main focus of the music in our services is congregational singing.
We desire that our music draw people's hearts and minds to the Lord and the truth of His word. Our intent is for musical presentations to be characterized by humble excellence and beautiful simplicity. We want people to remember the message far more than the messenger, the principles more than the presentation.
The styles of music we use could be described as conservative but vibrant. We want to use the best of both traditional hymns and conservative modern hymns. There should be no conflict in that, as we always strive to sing or play music with lyrics that are rich in accurate biblical content, theologically sound, and memorable. And we want the music that conveys those lyrics to be aesthetically pleasing, singable, and an appropriate medium for conveying that truth.
Ephesians 5:18b-20 ...but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
